| Dr. Morgan completed his undergraduate study from the University of North Carolina – Greensboro, double majoring in geography and political science. He completed his Masters also from UNC Greensboro concentrating in geography and GI-science. Dr. Morgan's advanced graduate studies were through an NSF grant at The University at Buffalo. He has taught various courses in geography and GIS over the years, including physical geography and earth science, human and cultural geography, political and regional geography, thematic cartography, as well as techniques classes in GIS (geographic information science) and remote sensing. Dr. Morgan was a certified photogrammetric and is a licensed Surveyor (specializing in photogrammetric methodology) in the State of North Carolina. He spent eight years working with Earth Data International as a consultant and project manager before returning to school to pursue academics. Dr. Morgan has been to South Asia working through the Royal Government of Bhutan's Ministry of Works and Human Settlement in an effort and to implement a GIS intern training program at Sherubtse University. Currently he is working with the City of Gadsden Alabama's Police Department. The project is centerd on the creation of a geodatabase for crime and will be used for continued crime analysis and crime prevention. He is also working with the Biology, Chemistry, and Environmental Science groups at Jacksonville State University for the spatial analysis and niche modeling for meiofauna using data collected from the Gulf of Mexico both pre and post Gulf oil spill. Some of his major publications are: "Attitudes Towards Spatial Privacy" (VDM Publishers, Saarbrücken, Germany 2009); "Price, M. Mastering ArcGIS" 4th ed. (McGraw Hill, Reviewer for edits. 2008-09); "Diba, B. A. The Caspian Sea in the Twenty-First Century", (MD, Ibex. 2003).
Dr. Morgan's Fulbright-Nehru grant focuses on the development of a model GIS-based, land management plan structured to be transferable to other areas. This plan will serve as a training apparatus and development tool for students, to be implemented at the university level for training in development, application and spatial analysis. The same structural models can be used by various agencies in which the students will potentially be employed in the future. The primary outcome of this methodology will be the creation of a training manual based on the principles established during the project |
